Sony Ericsson
Industry: Retail/Marketing
Description: Incentive scheme for sales personnel
Insight
Sony Ericsson holds a sizable percentage of the highly competitive mobile phone market in South Africa. In an attempt to increase their percentage in the market share, Sony Ericsson created an incentive plan targeted at sales people and managers of retail stores in order to increase the sales of their handsets. They required a system to track sales and allow them to advertise and administer performance incentives based on the sales figures.
Process
White Wall Web designed a permission based system which allows users to interface with it via the web frontend and/or their mobile phone. SMS functionality was critical to the success of the project, allowing sales people to log sales and receive account balance updates via an SMS short code. To achieve this, White Wall Web integrated the system with a third party bulk SMS provider. The system is self maintaining and allows the administrative users to change advertising and manage data via the web frontend.
Value
The incentive management system, which caters for over 15,000 users in more than 4,000 stores, has been published live and rolled out to stores across Southern Africa.
Technology
The solution was built using Ruby on Rails and MySQL as the database integrated with a third party bulk SMS solution.
