Express Air Services
Industry: Airline Services
Description: Operations and Client Management System
Insight
Express Air Services was using a number of systems to track their air freight business across numerous airlines and couriers, which presented many operational problems; therefore, a more streamlined system was required.
Process
White Wall Web implemented the project in multiple phases. The first, “Elaboration Phase”, required all the company’s operating systems to be documented in a User Requirement Specification. The second, “Design Phase”, involved designing the database, screen layouts, feed structures and other aspects of the complete system. 2009 saw White Wall Web in the final phases of completing the software development and roll-out of the billing and reporting systems.
Value
Express Air Services is now able to visualise the best system to run their operations and has all of their required systems documented. This enabled both Express Air Services and White Wall Web to prioritize the building of the system and to meet requirements for further system elements in manual and semi-automated ways. The new system allows Express Air Services to significantly reduce the time required to capture monthly billing information and increase the frequency and accuracy of reporting. Because the system is web-based, expansion of its use into the many international regions, as reflected in Express Air Services growth plan, is far easier.
Technology
The documentation, design utilised UML, and the software was built on the Microsoft .NET stack (C#), with a Microsoft SQL Server Database on an MVP framework. The intellectual property is held in a new entity called “FreightEasy” and could be available for sale to similar companies in the near future.
