eCommerce
Not just commerce with an ‘e’ in front.
This requires a deep understanding not only of the business behind the online store, but online marketing too.
Technology is simply a “health factor”
From a technological standpoint we can implement anything for you. Really. Given the right budget, there is very little limit to what features your online store provides to your customers. The availability of technology features for your new online store is not your primary barrier to success – the business behind the technology is. You will need to answer some important business questions:
- How are you going to get people to your store?
- How will they know that they are at the right place?
- Are your products the right kind of products to be selling online?
- What will you promise, and how will you deliver?
- How will you pack and distribute your products?
- How much stock should you keep on hand?
- How do you measure your effectiveness – from brand awareness though to conversion?
You know your business, we know the business of eCommerce
We highly recommend that you spend 2 hours with our friends at Live Alchemy (a valued Partner of ours through the WWW Inside Partner Programme) before you invest any money in building an online store. These are the guys behind the award winning site yuppiechef.co.za. They love to see new eCommerce companies succeed. They will run through your plans with you, give informed input, and show you how they do things at YuppieChef. Hopefully you will emerge invigorated, encouraged and ready to go. If there are elements that you have not carefully considered, at least you can work through these before potentially wasting a lot of money on development . Either way, their fee will be well worth your while.
Once you’ve decided to go ahead with your project and you have all bases covered, we will start working with you, forming one Scrum team with your nominated Project Team (and your “Product Owner”), while involving Live Alchemy (and other WWW Inside Partners) where needed during the course of the project.
The focus will be on your business objectives, the right holistic strategic approach to ensure your business success, User Experience and lastly, the right technology platform for the translation of your business objectives into technology features.
Technology
As a rule of thumb, we generally recommend using the Magento Framework for eCommerce stores (selling products) and Ruby on Rails for building eCommerce applications with unusual feature requirements. We’ll reserve our recommendation until after we have spent some time understanding your business though.
