1) Insight

RE/MAX of Southern Africa was experiencing huge growth in the organization and struggling with the administrative load resulting from centrally managing a growing number of offices and associates in five countries in Southern Africa.

2) Process

WWW went about creating a centralized database of all members accessible via the internet. Administrative tasks and correspondence was managed using email and web environments. New system features where added over time, on specification, according to priority.

3) Growth

As at the end of 2007, the system manages over 2,500 users in over 175 offices in the region. It consists of web site, property listing portal, corporate extranet and head office administration component. The system tracks over 10 years worth of data and manages in excess of R 15 billion worth of transactions per year. The network of websites is seen by nearly 1 million visitors per year.

Subsequent to the success in Southern Africa, the system has been rolled out to RE/MAX in both New Zealand and Australia and is now used by over 3,500 users in 8 countries.

Technology

The solution was built using PHP 5 and MySQL on a custom developed framework code named “muffin”. The Intellectual Property is held by White Wall Web and is called “pulse.”
